Week of 12/3:
Daily homework:
1. read 20 minutes
2. practice math multiplication facts 5 minutes each day
3. practice spelling words 5 minutes each day.
4. Daily math assignment.
A friendly reminder that as it gets colder, we still are going outside for recess. We will go out on dry days, around 40 degrees or warmer.
Friday is an early release day.
Spelling quiz Friday. Words are: shook, think, flash, speech, strong, cloth, brook, stitch, sting, scratch, fresh, spring, switch, stretch, splash. Challenge words are: nickel, quarter, appearance.
social studies: We will have a quiz on First Americans (ch. 3.1) on Wednesday. We will work on a study guide on Monday in class; it will be due Tuesday for a participation grade. Then we will talk about "Early Explorers."
We will start a new chapter called, "Communities Build a Nation." We will discuss the communities that formed this nation, starting with American Indians and early settlers.
Science: Our weather chapter test will be on Wednesday. We will do a simulated test on the ipads on Tuesday. Our following chapter is about climate.
Math: Chapter 4 test on multiplication will be on Tuesday, 12/4. We have also started working on timed multiplication drills. Ask your child if he or she is working on multiples of 2, 3, or 4. Next will be a very short chapter (5 sections) on algebra and multiplication strategies.
Religion: time to discuss Advent!
In LA we will continue to talk about verbs. We will have a quiz on verbs on Friday.
In reading, we will continue to work on our packet from Storyworks Jr., called, "The Fight for What's Right." Quiz will be towards the end of the week; I'm aiming for Thursday.
AR username and passwords will go home. Tests will be administered at school; you may then check results at home. AR passwords were sent home. I have extra copies if needed.
